Why start a blog?

To be honest, I started this blog because I wanted to use a widget that tracked word count for me.  Unfortunately I know less about blogging and posting then I thought and I don't know how to put the counter up.  So now I have a blog, and no followers which may or may not change.  But it is my space, and I am excited to see what will come of it.
